A way to get paint off of real wood flooring?

real wood flooring Add comments

We have real wood floors and there used to be carpet over it, whoever lived here before us obviously didn’t care and now there is white paint on real wood floor. What’s a way of getting the paint off without ruining the floor?

The best way is to sand an refinish the entire floor.

If you don’t want the hassle, get some LATEX paint remover. Don’t get Oops or Goof Off. Either of those will remove the existing finish, too.

you will want to get a good finish so you might as well do it right.
rent a drum sander, these are made specifically for sanding wood floors.
before you finish the floor, this would be the perfect time to check for squeaking flooring boards.
find the squeak, find where the joist is below by looking for the old nail holes and re-nail using 10 penny finish nails, sink the finish nail head and fill hole with wood putty.
once its squeak free you can finish it.
