I am installing laminate wood flooring in my 9×12 room and i was wondering if there was a way of telling exactly how many square feet i would need.I know that the square footage of the room is 108 square feet but dont i need to allow a certain amount for waste?I am trying to avoid having an axcessive amount left over.

5 -10%.
However, you may have to buy to full cartons, which may be less waste and/or more excess.
Example, if cartons are packed 30 sq ft, you have to buy 4 cartons = 120 sq ft. or other quantity.

If you purchase the laminate from a reputable place they will tell you exactly how much to purchase and no matter what there will be excess due to the staggering of the boards and cutting to fit doors etc. Some places may even take back the full boards you do not use. Don’t skimp you may regret it once you get working on it and need a special piece so it looks right. I did my halls and dining room and love it but have extra left over so now I have to do my office. Don’t forget to leave the border round the edge of the room. Good luck.
