    That is 360 square feet . At $3 a sq ft is 1.080.00. Some laminates are as little as $1.50 per sq ft . $540.00 Then add the under layment $70 or so = $610.00 Around . no Labor.

    Well, at our local hardware store, if you do it yourself, the wood alone is like 1.50 a sq. ft. So you would be looking at over 500 dollars just for wood. Then you’ll have to buy the pad and the glue, not to mention the tools to do it. My rough guess would be somewhere between 800-1000 dollars.

    We just tiled our kitchen and bathrooms. Priced the wood as a comparison.

    We did some spur-of-the-moment wood floor installation the week after Christmas. I blogged about it with photos;

    If you use an affordable brand (we used Tarkett) you can buy it for about $25 a carton – we bought Maple although they have many different shades and styles.

    I believe it was about 26 sq. feet coverage per carton.

    Hope this helps a little!

    You will need about 385 sq. ft. of material after allowing for waste. If you want the cheapest, you can easily find laminate for $0.90 per ft. If you buy padding and one molding, you can have all the materials you need for $400.
    Many warehouses sell second grade hardwood for less than $1 per ft. as well.
