Hardwood floor installation help!?

hardwood floor installation Add comments

I am installing a nail-down hardwood floor and have reached the final row. However, I have a 1 inch gap between the wall and the end of that final row, and am unsure how to fill the gap? My base-board won’t be wide enough to hide it. Any suggestions?

You need to rip a thin strip (about 1 inch wide) from some of the remaining boards and nail them into the gap. Nail directly into the sub flooring but do so that the nails will be hidden under the base board.

Punch nails through kick molding and remove then apply flooring cut to fit to sheet rock. after installation install kick molding on top. Mine worked out fine. Hope this helps.

You will need to either rip a board(s) to the correct width with a table saw. If you do not have a table saw you can clamp the boards to a table and use a circular or jig saw. If you have none of these you could install thicker baseboards or install quarter round, or possibly a combination of both.
